Dr. Laura Bahri

Dr Laura Bahri has been working as a clinical psychologist for 17 years. She has extensive experience working with complex, dual-diagnosis presentations, having worked for Next Step Drug and Alcohol Service for 11 years. In her role as a senior clinical psychologist, she has provided leadership, training, and consultancy within the public sector with the aim of improving client outcomes. Laura also has experience working with individuals who live and work in regional settings, particularly in the resources sector. She currently lives in the Pilbara, so has a personal understanding of the challenges and rewards of living remotely.

Laura deeply values the opportunity to work empathically, flexibly and collaboratively with clients from all walks of life. She adopts an evidence-based, trauma-informed, and strengths-based stance when supporting people to achieve change in their lives. She believes in the importance of providing interventions that are responsive to the individual’s current needs, whilst being guided by an attachment-based approach to change. 

Laura believes the key to change is building a trusting therapeutic relationship with her clients, which focuses on restoring a sense of both safety and empowerment in their lives. She integrates several evidence-based therapeutic approaches to provide treatment that is holistic and client-centred. These include

Laura works with individuals who are 18 years and over. She has a particular interest in working with individuals experiencing

  • PTSD and complex trauma
  • Drug and alcohol issues
  • Anxiety and mood disorders
  • Attachment and relationship difficulties
  • Grief and loss
  • Bullying and harassment at work
  • Difficulties arising in the context of FIFO/DIDO work and shift work (e.g., maintaining healthy family dynamics, fatigue management)
