Hannelie Scheffer

Hannelie completed her Master of Clinical Psychology in 1995 and has more than 28 years of experience as a Clinical Psychologist. Hannelie uses a multi-disciplinary and holistic approach based on a whole spectrum of evidence-based therapeutic models as this allows her to customize the best possible approach to address the individual needs of her clients.
Hannelie works with adults (18+) and couples, and her areas of interest and expertise include but are not limited to:
- Trauma, Complex trauma, PTSD Developmental Trauma and Attachment issues
- Dissociation and dissociative disorders
- Grief and Loss
- Depression and Anxiety disorders

Hannelie uses several different therapeutic approaches depending on the need of the client. These include Psychodynamic Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing); Hypnotherapy, Ego State Therapy; Parts therapy; Imagery Re-Scripting; Body-orientated psychotherapy; Mindfulness and Self-Compassion focused therapy (including MBSR, MBCT and ACT); to name a few.

She focuses on understanding and respecting the unique experiences of each individual and is committed to neurodivergent awareness and affirming counselling.
Hannelie is also an International Registered Imago Relational Therapist that provides therapy for all type of relationship difficulties.
Hannelie provides therapy in English as well as Afrikaans.
