Dr Alison Gomes

Alison is a Clinical Psychologist and board-approved supervisor with extensive experience in both public and private health settings.

She has completed a Doctor in Psychology (Clinical) and has worked in adult, child, and adolescent mental health services in Melbourne and Perth. Alison works across the lifespan, and enjoys working with clients of all ages. She has specialist skills in youth mental health, LGBTQ+ mental health, OCD, and childhood and developmental trauma. 

She integrates a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including:

  • Somatic Experiencing (SE) therapy
  • Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) 
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Schema Therapy
  • Attachment-Based Therapy 
  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
  • Narrative Therapy

Alison has a particular interest in working with individuals experiencing:

  • PTSD, including Complex (cumulative) trauma and single incident trauma
  • Anxiety disorders including OCD
  • Attachment & relationship difficulties
  • Life transitions (parenthood, university and workplace challenges, retirement, menopause, grief & loss)
  • Youth mental health
  • ADHD, ASD & neurodivergence

Alison is committed to discovering stories of resilience through a collaborative, compassionate and empathetic approach. She incorporates both developmental and neurobiological perspectives and is passionate about empowering clients with this information to improve their wellbeing and recovery.
