Cognitive Assessments

Cognitive Assessments (WPPSI or WISC) Perth

Gaining insight into your child’s unique cognitive profile

A Cognitive Assessment measures a child’s intellectual functioning and thinking skills. Depending on the child’s age, either the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI) or the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) is used.

Intellectual Development with Vivid Psychology

Helping you understand how your child learns best

Suitable for children aged 2½ to 16 years, this individually administered assessment does not require reading or writing and typically takes up to two hours to complete.

These results provide valuable insight into how a child processes information, solves problems, remembers information, and learns new concepts.

Achievement Assessment (WIAT)

Insight into your child’s academic abilities

The Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT) assesses a student’s current academic skills and achievement. It is suitable for children and adolescents aged 4 to 19 years.

This assessment evaluates key academic areas such as reading, written expression, mathematics, and oral language to identify strengths and areas requiring additional support.

How the Assessment Helps

Following completion of the assessment, our psychologists integrate the cognitive and academic results to develop a comprehensive understanding of your child’s learning profile. A detailed report is provided, outlining findings and practical recommendations for parents, schools, and other professionals.

This information can be invaluable in supporting a child’s educational journey by ensuring they receive the appropriate learning environment, supports, and interventions to reach their full potential.
